A Heart that Missed Worship
The other night, I found myself awake at midnight not because of work, not because of deadlines but simply because my heart longed to linger in worship.
There I was, in the quiet of my home, with my child fast asleep, slipping into my little office, turning on praise and worship music, raising my hands in surrender, and simply singing before the Lord.
I hadn’t realized how much I missed this.
Back in the days when I was still single, even when I was living alone in my apartment, I would leave worship music playing all day, all night.
Even as I slept, soft melodies of praise filled the room.
But when I became a mother, those rhythms changed.
The sleepless nights, the constant care, the challenge of settling a baby to sleep.. worship music became a luxury I could no longer afford.
It was all about survival.
All about getting enough rest to face another day.
But now, with my child a little older, sleeping soundly even without me by his side, I find myself drawn back to the secret place.
Back to the quiet room,
back to the raised hands,
back to the songs that heal and fill my soul.
My heart missed this. My spirit longed for it.
Worship has always been God’s gift to me; not just a practice, but a lifeline.
In seasons of joy or heaviness, peace or uncertainty, music has carried me back to the truth: God is still faithful.
He is still good.
He has not left my side, and He never will.
As I stood there that night, I was reminded that no matter how many problems swirl around me,
no matter how tired I feel,
no matter how long the road ahead may seem,
His presence remains my place of rest.
His presence restores what the world drains away.
Maybe you’re reading this today, and your own soul feels tired.
Maybe you’ve been running on empty, pouring yourself out for your family, your work, your calling.
Here’s a gentle reminder: you are allowed to step away, even for a moment, and refill your cup.
You are allowed to sit at the feet of Jesus and simply rest.
Extend grace to yourself.
You are doing better than you know.
Take a deep breath.
You are not alone, and you are already deeply loved.
Here’s my prayer today:
Lord, thank You for the gift of worship, for the quiet moments where I can pour out my heart and find rest in You. Help me remember that no matter how busy life gets, Your presence is always waiting and You are always faithful.
