Hey, June.. what a ride!

This month reminded me that no plan is too tidy for real life to rearrange. But grace always makes room for what matters most.

Hey, June.. what a ride!

Here’s June, from my little corner

June arrived, and on its very first day, life reminded me that motherhood is never predictable. I caught COVID again (I wrote about it at the beginning of the month). What I thought would be just a few days of slowing down turned into two weeks of forced rest, coughing through the nights, aching through the days.

All my carefully written checklists and neat work plans? Gone.

One by one, they toppled like dominoes.

And just as I was starting to catch my breath, Theodore got sick, twice in one month. As I write this, his fever has just broken this morning after spiking to 38.8°C. We held our breath, prayed over him, and agreed: if it rose again, we’d head straight to the doctor.

It’s exhausting. It drains you in ways you don’t always talk about.

But that’s what we do, mothers keep going, even when our bodies say stop.

All this, while I’ve been juggling work deadlines that didn’t care if my body was playing catch-up.

There were campaigns to manage, a new project to launch, bills to pay. It was a lot. It is a lot. But still, I kept showing up.. slowly, tiredly, faithfully.

In the middle of it all.. Kinder for Theodore. Can you believe it?

Sometimes I still can’t. June became a checklist of its own: assessments to complete, tuition to cover (even while we’re weathering a tight season financially), therapy sessions to keep up with, forms to submit, calls to make.

We enrolled him in extra support because he still needs help with his non-communicative speech. I found myself attending a three-day Charlotte Mason immersion just to better understand how to weave gentle learning into our days. I felt like the student this time, tired but deeply grateful. And honestly, I enjoyed every bit of it.

We’re doing an eclectic approach for now.. mixing what works until we find what feels right for him. I believe in showing up for his learning the way I wish I could have had someone show up for mine: present, patient, hopeful.

Because of all this, I had to set aside other things like my own blog drafts, the business tasks I meant to tick off, even some training work I was supposed to push through. They can wait. Theodore cannot. And that’s okay.

Even when life feels messy and unplanned, my heart is grateful.

Even in the middle of back-to-back fevers and unexpected expenses, God’s grace carried us through. The bills got paid, the tuition covered, the requirements submitted.

Provision always came, right on time, right when we needed it.

For that, I carry quiet wonder in my heart.

One more thing we decided on our little family is getting a tiny weekend place, closer to Theodore’s school. When Grade 1 comes, I want less travel, less stress, more room to just be present for him.

We’re praying for smooth days ahead, but no pressure. What matters is that he’s learning in a place that feels gentle, faith-filled, and safe. A true gift.

So that was June. The house is still messy, the routine still finding its feet but we’re here.

We’re moving forward.

We’re learning, step by step.

And I’m thankful—always thankful.

To every mom reading this: if your month felt like mine: messy, undone, full of surprises and delays, take heart.

You are doing better than you think. You’re showing up in quiet, hidden ways that only you know.

That is not small work.

That is holy work.

Here’s to another month.

Here’s to grace that meets us where we are.

Here’s to the beautiful, ordinary days that don’t always look perfect but always remind us how loved we really are.
